BGSTA: Protecting Sea Turtles on Gasparilla Island

The Boca Grande Sea Turtle Association (BGSTA) is a volunteer driven nonprofit working under Marine Sea Turtle Permits issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to protect and conserve nesting sea turtles and their hatchlings on Gasparilla Island, including Boca Grande. Our team conducts daily nesting surveys, safeguards nests, reduces predation, responds to strandings, and provides essential data for conservation and beach renourishment projects — all without government funding.
